Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Oyo State who were abducted while travelling to their orientation camp in the South-East have regained their freedom.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, confirmed their release on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, after a telephone conversation with Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, at about 5 p.m.

The confirmation was contained in a statement signed by the Olubadan’s Media Aide, Adeola Oloko.

The prospective corps members had been travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to the NYSC orientation camp when they were abducted, sparking concerns over their safety and prompting calls for intensified efforts to secure their release.

Their freedom comes after days of uncertainty for their families and loved ones, who had been anxiously awaiting their safe return.

The circumstances surrounding the abduction and release, including the location where the prospective corps members were freed and whether any ransom was paid, were not disclosed in the statement.
