The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly practising medicine without qualification and operating an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, at Life Is Good Hospital, Olodo, where police said he was attending to patients and administering treatments, including fertility-related treatments, despite not being a certified medical doctor.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Command about the suspect’s activities.

According to Ayanlade, operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit visited the facility and recovered two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, a large carton of assorted medicines and specimen bottles.

The PPRO said preliminary investigation revealed that Benjamin had allegedly operated as a quack practitioner for about seven years.

Ayanlade added that the suspect admitted during interrogation that he had been practising without being a medical doctor and without any licence to practise medicine.

He said Benjamin also disclosed that he specialised in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility.

The police said the investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and establish whether other persons were involved in the operation of the facility.

The Command said appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law at the conclusion of the investigation.
