The institution’s Senate reached these decisions during its 433rd assembly convened on March 4, 2026, after receiving comprehensive findings from the Senate Committee investigating enrollment credential anomalies.

Friday’s official university bulletin disclosed that 171 students lost their academic standing after investigators confirmed they had submitted fabricated documentation to gain entrance. “Bayero University Kano’s Senate, convening for its 433rd session on March 4, 2026, authorized the dismissal of 171 students who manipulated their admission credentials,” the announcement confirmed.

University leadership identified this misconduct as a direct breach of Section 20.7, Category A (vii) within the General Examinations and Academic Regulations framework, which specifies permanent dismissal as the mandatory consequence for such infractions. The dismissed students represent various academic disciplines and year groups. Officials framed the widespread expulsion as a critical step toward cleansing the institution’s academic documentation.

In separate disciplinary action, the Senate also terminated Yusuf Muhammad Sani, a Civil Engineering student, for allegedly attacking examination proctors during a test administration.
