Court Remands Man For Allegedly Threatening To Release Governor’s Nude Videos, Photographs

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the remand of a man, Sanusi Dankaka, in Kuje Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to publish nude videos and photographs of Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State via his Facebook page.

Justice Salim Ibrahim gave the order after Dankaka was arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) and pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge bordering on cybercrime offences.

The DSS had, in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026 and filed on Oct. 22 by Yusuf Afegbua, accused the defendant of committing the offence in October 2026.

In count one, Dankaka and some others at large, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, were alleged to have attempted, via his Facebook page, Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya, to send out the malicious publication.

He was alleged to have said that he was in possession of nude videos and photographs of Yusuf, and threatened to release them to the public.

The prosecution said the offence is contrary to the provisions of Section 27 (1)(6) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended and punishable under Section 24 (1) of the same Act.”

The DSS said the content of the said publication was false, but the defendant sent out the message for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the person of the governor.

The offence is contrary to and punished under Section 24(1) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended.

When the case was called on Monday, Afegbua, who appeared for DSS, informed the court that the case was scheduled for Dankaka’s arraignment and he was ready to proceed.

The defendant’s lawyer, Kauna Penzin, also said she was ready for the hearing.

After the charge was read to Dankaka, he denied the two counts.

Afegbua then applied for a trial date to prove their case against the defendant.

He also prayed the court to remand him to Kuje Correctional Centre, which the defence lawyer did not oppose.

Justice Ibrahim subsequently adjourned the matter until Dec. 7 for trial and ordered that Dankaka be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre.
