Latest NewsPolitics Alli’s Camp Accuses APM Supporters of Billboard Vandalism, Demands Police Action By Business Monitor October 14, 202626 views ShareTweet 0 By Victoria Isaac The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has called on security agencies to investigate the alleged vandalism of All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign billboards across Ibadan, accusing supporters of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, of responsibility. The organisation said billboards featuring Alli, the APC governorship candidate, and his running mate, Hon. Soji Adedeji, had been vandalised in several locations, including Mokola, Sango, Monatan-Olodo Road, Odo-Ona and the Toll Gate–Iwo Road section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. SSACO’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, describing the alleged incidents as a matter of concern ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The organisation also linked the development to an earlier incident in which it claimed that Alli’s wife and 2 other APC candidates were attacked in Ibadan the previous week. “The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation is raising the alarm over vandalisation of our candidates’ billboards in many parts of Ibadan by supporters of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, the APM governorship candidate in Oyo State,” the statement read. SSACO condemned the reported damage, insisting that political competition should not be accompanied by violence or the destruction of campaign materials. It also urged Governor Seyi Makinde and Adekanmbi to call their supporters to order, alleging that the incidents could heighten political tension in the state. The organisation called on the Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies to identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice. “We also call on the Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies to fish out perpetrators of this act and ensure they face the wrath of the law,” the statement said. While demanding an investigation, SSACO appealed to APC members and supporters to remain calm and avoid retaliation. “The SSACO urges all APC members and supporters in Oyo State to be calm and avoid taking laws into their hands,” Oladele added. The campaign organisation also used the statement to promote Alli’s proposed Oyo AHEAD governance blueprint, expressing confidence that it would accelerate development in the state if he is elected governor. The allegations against Adekanmbi’s supporters have not been independently verified, and the statement did not provide evidence establishing who was responsible for the reported vandalism.
