Latest NewsPolitics APM Fires Back At APC Over Attack Allegations, Demands Impartial Investigation By Business Monitor October 10, 202654 views ShareTweet 0 By Victoria Isaac The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State has denied involvement in the reported attack on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation and prosecute anyone found culpable. The party’s Presidential Coordinator and Director-General of its Governorship Campaign Council, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, dismissed attempts to link the APM to the violence as unfounded. In a statement issued on Friday, Adeniran responded to allegations reportedly made by the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation, challenging the APC to address its internal crises rather than drag other political parties into controversies the APM said it had no connection with. Adeniran also alleged that the APC had assembled a faction of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to support its political activities. He maintained that the APM should not be blamed for incidents involving such groups. He called on security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the attack, identify those responsible and prosecute anyone found guilty. With the 2027 Oyo governorship election approaching, Adeniran insisted that the APM would not resort to violence, intimidation or street-level political muscle to win votes. “Our campaign will be driven by ideas, policies and practical solutions to the challenges confronting the people of Oyo State,” he said, stressing that political contests should be determined by the quality of candidates and their ideas rather than violence. He urged political parties and their supporters to exercise restraint, respect the rule of law and avoid making allegations that cannot be backed by verifiable evidence. Adeniran reaffirmed the APM’s commitment to a peaceful, transparent and issue-driven campaign, saying the welfare, security and development of Oyo State residents would remain central to its political agenda.
