Lagos Ports Receive 9 Ships, Await 22 Others

A total of nine ships have berthed at Lagos ports, awaiting discharge of petroleum products and other cargoes.

The vessels are currently at Lekki, Tin Can Island and Apapa ports, handling imports for industrial, diplomatic and consumer purposes.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) disclosed this in its shipping position report made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to the authority, the vessels are laden with bulk wheat, bulk pallets, bulk fertiliser, diesel, aviation fuel, crude oil, petrol and bulk urea.

The report also stated that 22 additional ships were expected at Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island ports.

It said the vessels were scheduled to arrive between Sept. 1 and Sept. 13 with petroleum products, food supplies and other merchandise.

The incoming cargoes include buckwheat, containers, crude oil, bulk salt, bulk sugar, general cargoes and bulk wheat.

“Shipping activities across the ports remain active, with both liquid and dry cargoes arriving steadily,” the authority stated.

The report further revealed that 16 ships were currently discharging cargoes at the ports.

The vessels are handling containers, bulk fertiliser, general cargoes, bulk urea, diesel, bulk pallets, bulk wheat and petrol.
