Latest NewsMaritime MMAC Generates ₦165.79bn In 10 Months, Hits 533% Daily Target ...Otunla attributes performance to compliance, e-Customs platform and efforts to block revenue leakages By Business Monitor October 15, 2026146 views ShareTweet 0 By Samuel Egbewole The Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated ₦165.79 billion in revenue between January and October 8, 2026, representing 57.4 per cent of its annual target of ₦289.79 billion. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday. Otunla said the command recorded 53,164 declarations during the period, reflecting its revenue performance against the annual target. He highlighted the command’s performance on October 8, when it generated ₦6.2 billion from 240 declarations against a daily target of ₦1.16 billion. According to him, the figure represented 533.1 per cent of the daily target, describing the result as unprecedented in the command’s recent revenue history. The controller also disclosed that the command generated ₦8.82 billion from 1,252 declarations between October 5 and 8, exceeding its target of ₦5.82 billion for the period. He said the four-day performance amounted to 151.5 per cent of the target, attributing the result to improved compliance and the deployment of the e-Customs platform. Providing an update on the command’s October revenue, Otunla said it had generated ₦9.68 billion from 1,651 declarations as of October 8, representing 40.3 per cent of its monthly target. He attributed the command’s improved revenue performance to discipline, integrity and the commitment of officers to preventing revenue leakages. “We will sustain transparency, deploy technology, and ensure no declaration escapes proper assessment,” Otunla said. He urged stakeholders to comply with customs regulations, stressing the importance of proper declarations and assessment in revenue collection. The controller commended officers and stakeholders for their cooperation and expressed confidence that the command would exceed its annual revenue target before the end of the year.
