EntertainmentLatest News ToluwaniSings’ Family Disowns Viral Fundraiser For Wife, Children By Business Monitor 6 days ago31 views ShareTweet 0 By Victoria Isaac The family of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile, popularly known as ToluwaniSings, has warned the public against a viral fundraising campaign claiming to solicit donations for his wife and children, describing the appeal as false. The warning followed the circulation of a flyer across social media platforms, purportedly issued by The Tolaoluwa Foundation, asking members of the public to contribute money to support the deceased singer’s family following his death. Titled “In Loving Memory of Minister Olayemi Bayonile (ToluwaniSings),” the flyer claimed that the funds would provide care, comfort and practical assistance for the singer’s wife and children during their period of grief. The appeal read in part: “As we honour the life and memory of our dear friend, we are raising funds to support the wife and children he leaves behind… Your kindness will help provide care, comfort and practical support during this difficult time.” However, the family rejected the appeal on Thursday evening in a disclaimer published on the singer’s verified Instagram page, where it reposted the circulating flyer and urged the public to report the page behind it. “Disclaimer! This is not true, please. Please report this page en masse. If something like this ever comes up, it will be from this page. Thank you,” the family stated. The post had attracted several thousand likes at the time of filing this report as the family sought to alert fans, sympathisers and other members of the public to the fundraising appeal. The family’s response is particularly significant because the flyer specifically claimed that donations would be used to support the singer’s wife and children, a message that could prompt grieving fans and well-wishers to contribute money without verifying its authenticity. By directing the public to report the page, the family also clarified that any legitimate fundraising initiative organised on behalf of the singer’s family would be announced through his verified Instagram account. ToluwaniSings’ death has continued to attract tributes from fans, fellow artistes and members of the gospel music community, with many expressing condolences and mourning the loss of the singer. The development highlights the importance of verifying online fundraising appeals through official channels before making donations, particularly when such appeals are linked to bereaved families and public figures.
