By Victoria Isaac

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has unveiled a seven-day programme of activities to commemorate its 60th anniversary and the 2026 Press Week, scheduled for November 1 to 7.

The celebration, which will run under the theme, “Celebrating the Past, Defending the Present and Shaping the Future,” is expected to bring members together for a series of professional, religious and social engagements marking six decades of the union’s presence in Oyo State.

The programme features a church thanksgiving service, an opening ceremony and anniversary lectures, alongside dedicated days for the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

Other activities lined up for the week include a Family and Veterans’ Day, a Jumat service and a grand finale to bring the anniversary celebration to a close.

The council’s Secretary, Dayo Adu, announced the programme in a statement, urging members to take note of the scheduled activities, dates and venues as contained in the released itinerary.

Adu called on members to participate actively in the celebration, emphasising the importance of their involvement in making the Diamond Jubilee and Press Week a memorable occasion.
